A Grief coach is a professional who assists a grieving person. Grief coaching helps a person to manage their emotions and expectations, to emotionally heal from the trauma of losing someone they love.
Grief is difficult, messy, and personal. Grief frequently feels as if the overwhelming emotions are crushing a person. No two people grieve in exactly the same manner. A Grief Coach can help to find the tools and exercises which will best help a grieving individual to navigate their grief journey. These tools can include talking sessions, exercises for emotional relief, art therapy, journaling and more. These exercises can be done as a 1:1 session, in a group setting, or as self paced tools. Each of these exercises are designed to help transition a grieving person from the overwhelming weight of grief toward being able to remember a loved one with happy memories, rather than focusing on their absence.
What works for one individual may not work for another, so it is important to have multiple options available, and to find the methods that work best for you. Because grief can also be ever changing, keeping multiple resources, exercises and tools available is a very valuable strategy.
While a grief coach can not remove the pain a person is feeling with their grief, a grief coach can make the process less difficult and offer suggestions to navigate some of the stress which accompanies life changing events.
